My colleague D invited me out to dinner with his wife. We decided on going to a steakhouse. I had absolutely no qualms having steak for a second night straight! The Sawmill is a local chain that is more high end than Mr. Mike's, and specializes in both steak and prime rib.
As we sat down, we were immediately served warm bread with butter. Score! We enjoyed our bread while we pondered over the menu. D decided on the special of the day: prime rib. His wife C and I got the steak combo that included the salad bar.
I really have no experience with steakhouses (dating vegetarians will do that for you!). I have only seen salad bars at buffets or at brunch. This salad bar seemed to have more seafood choices.
My salad bar plate - I can't control myself when it's all you can eat!
D's prime rib arrived with mashed potatoes and a very puffed up Yorkshire pudding. One look at D's dish and I wished I had ordered the prime rib! C's sirloin came with vegetables and a baked potatoes. The plates were all pretty big.

I only got a 5 oz. sirloin; I did not want to overdose on steak! I got a side of wild mushrooms that were on the salty side. I did enjoy my steak!

I think the Sawmill is a great steakhouse, in a definite old school kind of way. After dinner, D and C were generous enough to give me the tour of the city. We also walked through the (in)famous West Edmonton Mall. One word: massive!
Clockwise: Bourbon Street, yes a boat, water slides and an ice rink. Also: casino, Asian market, many, many stores and even a few lemures (yes, weird)!
